AA5B LM in VHF contest
James Duffey
AA5B and I will be running a limited multiop from DM64 this weekend for the VHF contest. We will have 6M, 2M, 222MHz, and 432MHz. We will have 500W on 6M to 4element Yagis at 40 ft and my Ts2000 plus XV222 on the other three bands with my 8 ft rover Yagis at 20 ft or so. We will operate SSB, preferred for rate, CW, preferred for rate under weak signal conditions and because we are old farts, and FT8/FT4/MSK144 preferred because that is where the points and mults are.
We will have Slack access primarily on the AZ and NM slack areas, and you can text me at 505 228 5491 during the contest to arrange QSOs. The site is a good one, albeit with a bit of QRN towards the NE. - Duffey KK6MC James Duffey KK6MC Cedar Crest NM |

Keith - 100W on 144, 50W on 432, and 20w linear/120W digital on 222MHz. My 8ft rover Yagis at 20ft. We will have the digital modes on all bands. - Duffey

Great ! If we can't do CW (or just SSB), we'll be able to complete on digi-wigi on all those bands. FWIW, I also have 1296 set up on the rover mast on the truck - 120W & 5' looper. Seems to be working since I can hear the radar scan out of Grand Junction. If 6 is dead and anybody wants to try.... - W9RM Keith Morehouse via MotoG On Fri, Jun 12, 2020, 5:00 PM James Duffey <JamesDuffey@...> wrote:

Please be more specific where you will be operating in DM64. A big place for us a tad close in. Thanks On Fri, Jun 12, 2020, 6:28 PM James Duffey <JamesDuffey@...> wrote: AA5B |

Duffey, Good luck to you and Bruce operating in DM64ux. The rotator cable is still severed to my VHF/UHF antennas so I am fixed due west. I should be able to "eke" out some contacts with AA5B from here in DM64vx ! So my UHF activity will be limited in the fixed westerly direction. I did put together a SM-50 Stressed Moxon for 6 meters a few days ago. Armstrong rotateable and 10 feet off the ground. Works crazy well when 6 meters is open. Beats the isotropic mag mount vertical that I had been using. On Fri, Jun 12, 2020 at 8:54 PM James Duffey <JamesDuffey@...> wrote:

Bob, That’s perfect for me. I’ll be operating portable from Deza Bluffs, at Tohatchi NM, about 30 miles north of Gallup, NM = DM55ov, 35.903°N, 108.773°W. We will be QRV on 2 and 432 and I hope to get a 6 meter dipole also in the air. Mike, n5sj
