2018 CQ WW VHF results
Whoa!
I just noticed that my 28,014 points moved the NMVHFS from what would've been 4th place up to 2nd place! Little Ol' me -- old school! Happy New Year to you all!! Two NMVHF rovers finished 2nd (W3DHJ) and 4th (KK6MC) overall. They even beat K2EZ's 15-grid effort on the east coast where so much contest activity occurs. It took a zero-sleep, 10-grid marathon by AC0RA/KG5CCI to break the CQ-VHF rover record and claim the top spot.

But, that Raton divide, the mountains N.E. of Santa Fe, and even the Sandias make it rough for the propagation into the S.E. Colorado 4-corner "confluence" of DM87, DM88, DM77, and DM78. But, it does happen from time-to-time. And I get goosebumps each time it happens. :-) 73 Jonesy -- Marvin L Jones | UBSC | https://jonz.net/UBSC/ Pueblo, Colorado | @ | 38.238N 104.547W | jonz.net |

Yup, a few thousand feet of granite betwixt does not help. Yet, I think that timing could make it work (as you referenced). Aiming SSW and NNE simultaneously with a bit of pre-planning, perhaps.
