I was traveling in Eastern WY during this opening. The FM band had solid signals in every slot, I listened to a station in Austin TX for over 45 minutes and from tuning around, there were lots of Mexican FM stations on as well. - Duffey KK6MC

Yes. I did work EA8YV as reported. I had been watching a newscast by Tamitha Skov earlier that morning in which she reported that the good propagation we had been experiencing was from a sun spot that had rotated from view to earth and that conditions were quickly declining and would be quiet for about 1 week, pending another sun spot on the back side of the sun that would rotate into view. I was tuning to see how poor conditions were and heard the weak CW CQ from EA8YV. While answering his CQ (I was running 100W from the TS-590SG), I hit the amp ON switch and the 3 minute timer started ticking. So the QSO on my end was 100W until the final 73 when the amp finally was ready. The point is it pays to listen carefully. Plus a bit of luck; Ya had to be at the right place at the right time. Mike, I just checked my 6M CW QSO with ON4IQ (JO20ar) from last year. My logging program says 5,258 miles. You might want to confirm the distance. I'm in DM64nb. Contact was 13 June 2017 at 17:58. My end was 100 wts to 3 elements. Johan did the heavy lifting with his H-frame of four M2 8 els. (His QRZ page says he's upgraded to 9 elements now) Jim KC7QY From: WB2FKO <mph@...> To: nmvhf@groups.io Sent: Monday, June 25, 2018 5:49 PM Subject: Re: [nmvhf] 6M DX report Sunday 6/4 N7KA worked EA8YV the old fashioned

have enough details to add to database. W7QQ should get me that

Band was open again this morning from DM58, this time mostly high latitude path to Scandinavian countries (LA/OH/SM) with a few northern mainland Europeans thrown in (DK/PA/ON, ect). Band was extremely variable, with stations quite strong one minute and fading out the next. Geo-mag conditions were a bit improved over yesterday, but still slightly disturbed. For our part of the country, EU started about 1545Z, conditions peaked around 1630Z and continued until approx 1730Z.
As of 2000Z, there is still a major EU opening going on for the east coast, with multiple paths into northern Eu and the Mediterranean areas. Also, some transcontinental activity exists from new England to Pac NW.
There is always a good chance of an Asian opening a little later this afternoon.
Of course, as is the norm now, all this activity was on FT8. REMEMBER - for inter-continental traffic on FT8, USA stations should send SECOND SEQUENCE while pointed to EU/AF and FIRST SEQUENCE when attempting to work Asia. From this part of the country, you will have to deal with very loud stations one Es hop away from you, either in the upper Great Lakes area or the Pac NW. Out of sequence calling will have you transmitting the same sequence as the DX, which means you will not hear the DX. Other out of sequence stations will impact your ability to hear weak guys. Also, keep in mind, in the USA, stations have valid reason to TX either sequence if they are not DXing - it all depends on who (or which way) they are working. That's just how it is now that everybody decided it's cool to be on the same frequency.

Re: 6M DX 23 June AM
Bill
GA Keith, Nice work on 6! I'm getting more serious about getting on FT8 and others. I've been through the setup three times now and cannot remember how to get it set up with the K3. I loaded the WSJT-x package on the "new" laptop but have not gotten it setup. All my machines with JT receive and decode FB but the transmit is another matter..... as is setting correct audio gains. Setting up digital modes is pacing any consideration of "grid peditioning". Sorry I have ignored your proposal for doing that. I'm pretty far from having rove capability so I would say that's a dim possibility this summer. The 23 cm amplifier arrived today and I'm busy getting a second Blade power supply set up to run it. Also need to set up a driver amp to provide a 10w drive, bridging the transverter output of 2.5 watts and the amp's need for 10 watts. I have 3 early DEMI 23 cm brick amps I could use but I would really like something with a "drive level" knob on it, and that I do not have. It's been warm here. I washed the Turbo and we took it out for dinner a couple days ago. The road was so dry and dusty the car looked worse than before it was washed when we got home! Bill W7QQ

6M DX 23 June AM
Keith Morehouse
..a good morning on 6. Worked a handful of SM's, I's, SV's , a LA, LY, & SV9CVY for a new one. Also heard S5, 9A, EA8, 5B4, CU, CT and a few others. All this with moderately disturbed geomagnetic conditions, which usually puts a damper on high latitude sporadic-E prop (but, occasionally helps it). Don't know what it'll be like this afternoon and evening to Asia with FD running, but one needs to be vigilant on 6M during this solstice period. Yesterdays excellent Asian prop proved that ! -W9RM Keith J Morehouse Managing Partner Calmesa Partners G.P. Olathe, CO

Will do, but will need other info for a complete record. I want to remind everyone that we have a NMVHF DX database here: The submission guidelines are here: http://www.nmvhf.org/dxstandings.pdf I know there have been a lot of DX achievements since the list
was last updated. It would be nice to get these recorded. Mike WB2FKO On 06/19/2018 07:52 PM, Bill wrote:

Hi Mike, Looks like we have a new DX completion for NMVHFS. By my navigation N5JEH Ed DM65rd completed an SSB contact with K0TPP in EM48rk, a distance of 913 miles. Bob N5EPA DM64vx also completed that contact with K0TPP, a distance of 900 miles for second place. Would you update the DX results page to show these accomplishments on 6/19/2018 pse. I used Find your QTH to calculate the distances. Pretty cool.
