Keith,

I got on for a few minutes. Nothing here. Of course there was zilch chance of you hearing my mighty 50wts. I did get on again a little after 8 here in case anyone showed up from AZ. Didn't expect anything and wasn't disappointed.

The 3rd of the 5 Spring SPRINT VHF/UHF Operating Events will be held on Wednesday,  22April, from 7 to 11 PM.
N6ZE plans to operate from a high location within the City of Thousand Oaks, CA in Grid DM04nf from 7 - 9 PM.
If you have any equipment for the 70cm band, please make an effort to get on. You'll be surprised to see what you can do on Simplex FM or SSB without using a repeater.
Contest Exchange & Scoring are simple: You Exchange callsigns and Grid locator (DM04). Contest scoring is simple too: Number of contacts made times the number of different grids worked. NOTE: No log is required!
Use this site to post your score:     3830scores.com/contests.php

The 4th Spring SPRINT will be held on Saturday Morning, 02 May 2020 from 0800 - 1400 pdt on all bands from 900 MHz (33cm) and up may be used.

The 5th and final Spring SPRINT will be held on Saturday evening 09 May 2020 from 1600 - 2000 ( 4 pm - 8 pm pdt)  50MHz (6 meter) band. Early Season Sporadic E Propagation might occur so QSOs out to 2000 miles might be made.

New Mexico QSO Party -- Log submission info

Brian Mileshosky

Greetings —

If you participated in last Saturday's New Mexico QSO Party, and have *not* yet submitted your logs, we encourage you to do so.  Even if you only made a few contacts, we’d like to recognize your effort and accurately reflect the level of participation across New Mexico in 2020’s event statistics.

If you are a member of a New Mexico amateur radio club, be sure to list your club's name on your log (one club only, please) so it receives credit towards two special club awards that are up for grabs.

Logs must be received via email no later than April 25 (two weeks following the event).  To submit your Cabrillo-formatted electronic log or scanned paper forms, please send as an attachment to logs@....   We will acknowledge receipt via email and at http://www.newmexicoqsoparty.org/wp/logs-received

If you happened to take one or two good pictures of your NMQP operation this year, you are also welcome to share it with us at  the email address above. We’ll consider adding it to NMQP’s photo album (http://www.newmexicoqsoparty.org/wp/photos/).

Thanks and 73,
Brian N5ZGT

New Mexico QSO Party -- Tomorrow

Brian Mileshosky

Greetings —

Hams across the Land of Enchantment will be lighting up the HF, 6 meter, and 2 meter bands for the New Mexico QSO Party tomorrow (Saturday) from 8:00am-8:00pm MDT.  We hope you’ll be part of the action.  Details in the original note below.

Participants are encouraged to take one or two good pictures of your operation so we can consider adding it to NMQP’s photo album (http://www.newmexicoqsoparty.org/wp/photos/) after the event.  Pictures can be sent via email with log submissions.

If you are a member of a New Mexico amateur radio club, be sure to list your club's name on your log (one club only, please) so it receives credit towards two special club awards that are up for grabs.

Help needed: We are looking for hams residing in Curry, De Baca, Grant, Harding, Hidalgo, McKinley, Mora, Quay, Rio Arriba, Roosevelt, San Miguel, Sierra, Taos, and Union counties to participate.  Do you know any amateur radio operators living in those counties?  If so, please contact them and encourage them to participate on Saturday whether for a few hours or the entire event.  We'd appreciate them contacting us via the NMQP website (www.NewMexicoQSOParty.org) so we can add them to the interactive county activation map.  The more people who hit the airwaves from every New Mexico QSO Party, the more exciting it will be for everyone.

Stay healthy, and enjoy the New Mexico QSO Party tomorrow.

Greetings —

A final reminder that the 2020 New Mexico QSO Party takes this Saturday, April 11 from 8:00am MDT until 8:00pm MDT.  Every ham across New Mexico is invited to participate on HF, 6 meters, and 2 meters.  There are a number of ways to participate safely and enjoyably while the COVID-19 pandemic continues to evolve, and we hope this event serves as a positive moment of relief and enjoyment during these challenging times.

We are looking for as many hams — like yourself! — within each and every one of New Mexico's 33 counties to participate in the 2020 New Mexico QSO Party, whether for just a few convenient hours or for the entire event.  This is a super event for new and experienced hams alike.

Important COVID-19 related update: Due to New Mexico Department of Health’s COVID-19 stay-at-home order, just extended through 30 April, mobile operations will not be permitted in this year’s event. Additionally, definitions of the New Mexico Multi-Op operating class and Expedition category have been revised. See event rules for details.

Are you planning to participate this Saturday from the comfort of your home QTH, even for just a short while?  If so, please visit www.NewMexicoQSOParty.org and use the “Contact Us” link to let us know what county you plan to operate from so we can list you on the NM QSO Party’s interactive map and listing.  Encourage your friends to participate, too.  Our goal for there to be many callsigns listed under every New Mexico county.

See you on HF, 6 meters, and 2 meters this Saturday!

It was on 144.174, the 2M FT8 "channel", so it may not have started out as human-to-human...

I saw when it was spotted this morning and made reference to it on the VHF-Chat Slack channel.  He also worked, or at least spotted, PJ2BR, which is considerably farther at almost 4800 KM.  Both original spots were in FT8.

This is an amazing feat. Given the Hepburn charts, it appears that given a bit more inversion a bit further north that a W4 from southern FL to D4 QSO would be possible.

Re: New Mexico QSO Party Frequencies for 6&2 Meters

Bob Norton

Greetings all,

I prefer to use N3FJP logging software for contest logging. Sorry N1MM only folks.

Just got the latest software updates in February 2020. Partly to be ready for Field Day and the newest ARRL sections created in Canada.

More than a little peeved that my NM QSO Party logger vs 1.9 was already out of date with the last minute addition of 2 meters. Well, did successfully download vs 2.0 this evening. 2 meters is included, plus surprisingly 70 cm. While that band's contacts will not count in 2020 the logger is ready should 70cm be added in the future. Brian, hint hint.
